A robot completing an inspection is only useful if the facilities team can act on what it finds.

Google Cloud announcement, October 27, 2026 puts Gemini Robotics Embodied Reasoning 2 into public preview, with capabilities for interpreting video, planning tasks, and coordinating robot tools. For me, this raises a practical question: how do we connect better robotic reasoning to better facility decisions?

My work spans autonomous robotic sensing for indoor environmental quality and enterprise facilities applications. Those two areas meet at a critical handoff: turning an observation into reliable operational information. Consider a robot collecting environmental measurements across a building. Beyond navigation, a useful workflow needs to establish: • Where and when was each measurement taken? • Is the reading trustworthy, and should it be repeated? • What context does the facilities team need? • Should the finding trigger review, further investigation, or a work order? These are design questions I would bring to evaluating an embodied AI system. My takeaway: evaluate the complete journey from sensing to action. A more capable model creates opportunities, but data quality, traceability, and integration determine how useful those opportunities become.
